If their was anything Floyd was known for, it was his mood swings. Right now wasn't any different. It was after school and he didn't have any club activities, nor did he have work. So, overall, he was bored, which was something that came easy to him.
With no one around, he had been trying to keep himself occupied, but you should never leave Floyd by himself with his thoughts for too long. They can become dangerous or outright stupid ik the blink of an eye. However, luckily for everyone in the dorm, their wasn't any dangerous thoughts up their right now, just.. depressing ones? He was always the type to overthink things, but when he started thinking about his life and actions, he couldn't seem to get off the subject.
He often found it funny how everyone always ran when they saw him, but right now he just found it hurtful. Likewise, he mostly didn't care how Azul yelled at him every time they made contact, but currently, it seemed like the only reason he was keeping him around was because of his twin, not wanting to separate the two. But obviously his twin couldn't feel annoyed with him, right?
With all these thoughts flowing through his head, he didn't know how to feel. He couldn't separate all his emotions. He felt angry, annoyed, sad, and overall confused. It was never like him to feel like this and he didn't know how to cope or what else to do.
He went to pick up his phone and maybe text the NRC group chat, but as soon as he picked up his phone, all he wanted to do was chuck it out of anger, so that's what he did. The chucked it right over near the edge of his side of the room, luckily landing on one of his many piles of clothes. Great, now he'd have to actually get up and get it, which he didn't want to do. But he had to.
On the way over, he happened to notice a plushie of himself as an eel. It was something jade had given him. Jade has a matching one on his bed. But seeing it just filled him with sadness. Why? He couldn't put his finger on it, but it did. So instead of grabbing his phone like he had intended, he grabbed the plushie and dug his fingers into it, trying his best to tear at it like a dog would its toy.
But what if he did rip it up and he regretted it after? With this thought in mind, he stopped, chucking that at the door, slumping to the ground, cheeks puffed. He looked like a kid pouting because they couldn't get their way. "Ugh, this is so stupid! I'm so bored!" Floyd yelled to himself, laying back on the floor, mad at himself.
Luckily, he heard a creak, bringing him out of his thoughts. Jade as back. Normally he'd be happy to see his twin, but right now he just felt… how did he feel. Not happy, not sad, not precisely angry, but not relieved either.
"Dear brother, is their a reason why you're laying on the floor?" Jade asked his twin, placing his backpack on the ground beside the door and gently shutting it. Floyd scoffed, using his hand to block Jade's face so he couldn't see him. "It's none of ya business." He said in an angry tone. Luckily, Jade knew how his brother tended to act. Not just his intense mood swings and being "bored", but times when he couldn't quite understand himself, he tended to try any and everything he could so he could understand himself.
Jade hummed, walking over to his twin and kneeling down next to him. "How long have you been here all alone?" Jade asked, gently, moving Floyd's hand down so Floyd could see his face. Floyd rolled his eyes, pulling away. "I on know. Like… a few minutes or something. Maybe an hour." He mumbled. Jade shook his head, further understanding the situation. Floyd sat up, clicking his tongue when Jade went silent.
"You're so boring and annoying. Why are you sitting over here?" Floyd complained. "Well it seems to me there's something bothering you. As your twin, I feel it is my duty to help you assess the situation and come up with the best course of action to rid of the problem." Floyd groaned. "What are you? My therapist? Move." Floyd retorted, taking a nearby item, which just so happened to be a pencil, and throwing it at him. Luckily, Jade had razor sharp reflexes and caught the pencil before its sharp end hit him. They had both always had amazing reflexes.
"Now Floyd, are we sure that's how you want to handle your emotions?" Jade said in a calm tone still, scolding him like a mother would their child. Floyd crossed his arms and huffed, his way of saying either "sorry" or "I was wrong." Something along those lines at least. "Now, what's going on in that head of yours, hm?" Jade asked, still soothingly, watching Floyd for any responses he may be having.
"I don't know! I'm so mad I want to punch something, but I'm so annoyed I want to just leave my body somehow, and I'm so sad I want to just cry. And it's so confusing because I don't know WHY!" He explained, talking with his hands, getting even more annoyed and angry at his explanation. "So I went to text the group chat because I thought I was just bored, but I got really angry again and chucked my phone, then I almost tore up my eel you gave me then threw that too because I was upset I had almost tore it up. I don't know what to do." He repeated, tears streaming down his face in frustration. Jade nodded, grabbing his brother's hands and rubbing them soothingly. He looked over at his phone, double checking it wasn't broken and glancing at the eel in the corner as he spoke.
"Well, it would appear to me you need a change of pace. Perhaps life has been taking its toll on you and you need a break. How about a walk around campus." Jade explained, still holding Floyd's hands, standing up and guiding his brother up with him. "Ugh, I don't want to go for a walk though, that's so boring." Floyd groaned, following Jade out of their shared dorm. Had didn't respond, only making sure to keep one of his brother's hands in his as the two strolled around campus.
"How is this going to help," Floyd asked, eyes narrowed after a minute, "I'm not like you, I don't like walking trails and stuff. That's so gross." Jade chuckled wholeheartedly. "Trust me, it'll help calm some of those intense emotions you've got going on in your head right now. Perhaps you'd like to talk about how some of these came along?" Floyd's shoulders slumped at the question. "I don't know, my mind wouldn't stop thinking and because it wouldn't stop thinking, all these annoying thoughts popped into my head and they wouldn't stop. It was so irritating. I almost broke the table." He groaned. Jade nodded, his que for his brother to keep going. Like usually when people are scared to talk to me, I find that hilarious, and I'll go talk to them anyway. But when I was thinking about it, I found it annoying how everyone did that. And then I thought about how often Azul yells at me and it made me even more sad and stuff because it's like he only keeps me around because he likes you." He started again, kicking some rocks as they walked.
"SEVENS IT'S SO ANNOYING!" He lashed out, kicking a nearby bush, almost getting his foot stuck. The sudden outlash has attracted the attention of some students, but that didn't stop Jade from leading his brother on still. "Deep breaths." He mumbled to his brother as they continued. Floyd grumbled, "what if I don't want to do 'deep breaths'," but took a few anyway.
After a few minutes of walking in silence, Floyd held his head down low, hair falling over his face so you couldn't see it.
"I want to go home." He mumbled. "You want to go back to the dorm now?" Jade asked, looking at Floyd, a questioning glance. "No, no, no, no. I wanna go home. I don't like it here, I don't want to be here anymore, in this place. I liked it back in the sea." He said, a ery disappearing aura now radiating off of him. Jade frowned. He knew Floyd could get sea sick at times and he understood him completely, but they were needed here at NRC. "Floyd-"
"Ah, it's funny running into you two here." Azul interrupted, "I was just looking for you two." Jade huffed in annoyance but kept his composure. "What can we do for you Azul?" Azul was about to speak when he noticed Floyd. "What's up with him?" He asked silently. Jade leaned over, whispering into his ear. "Currently, sea sickness. However, before this he was struggling quite a bit with emotions, do try and be easy with him." Azul rolled his eyes. Floyd sunk to the ground, bringing his knees to his chest. "Floyd-" "I want. To go. Home." He grumbled, this time separating his words. Azul was quite upset he had interrupted him, but it was clear he wasn't in the mood to be tampered with.
"Floyd, why are you sitting on the ground?" Azul asked, rubbing his temples. "I'm not leaving this spot till I can go home, I don't wanna be here anymore." Jade sighed, sitting in front of his brother. "Floyd, please try to understand, we can't just leave. We're needed here for now." "Well I don't want to be needed here. Tell them to un-need me, let me go home." He pouted, tears streaming down his face, this time from sadness. He had just kicked a bush, now he was throwing a fit on the ground, crying. He really did have bad mood swings. Azul grumbled to himself, pushing back all of his pride as he sat down on the ground as well.
"Floyd, we all miss the ocean, but it's not like the land is all that terrible either." Azul started, nudging Jade for some help. "He's right, if we were still back their, you wouldn't have met all the people you love to annoy now, or be on the basketball team." Floyd groaned. "You're right, I'd have other people to annoy and be playing fish-ketball." Clearly their attempt didn't work, so Azul tried a more… unexpected… way to cheer him up.
"But you wouldn't have been able to have Monstro Lounge drinks back at home. Or any of the desserts you seem to enjoy trying to sneak." Floyd peeked up from his arms, sniffling. "You never let me drink or eat them though." He pouted. Azul sighed. "I'll tell you what, if you get up off the ground and stop pouting, just for today I'll let you have a little bit of whatever you want." Azul proposed, leaning a little closer to Floyd. He perked up, already excited. "Really? Like really really? No sneaking?" Jade chuckled at his brother's excitement. "Yup, but you've got to get up and stop pouting-" "Done! Let's go!" Floyd said, standing up as quickly as possible and rushing off.
"Well, that's one way to cheer him up I suppose." Jade chuckled, standing up and dusting himself off, Azul doing the same. "What was it you needed us for?" Azul perked up and chuckled. "Oh, Monstro Lounge needs cleaning. Perhaps along with his free desserts, he can slide some dishes into the mix." Jade sighed, of course their was a catch. However, his brother was finally smiling, and that's all that mattered to him.
